but others argue that it would be a waste of valuable school time.

The subject of secondary education has always been a complex and fascinating enterprise .In terms of whether international news should be listed as a compulsory course in secondary education ,there are two opposite polarities .My opinion tends to endorse with engaging this subject into the curriculum .

?The statement that it would be a waste of school time is the grounds for those who are against this practice .That is ,compared to other utilitarian subjects ,such as science or language learning ,international news is not indispensable for teenagers to learn as this subject is not closed related to the mainstream academical subjects that parents pay attention to .These parents believe that only the high performance on core disciplines of their kids would correlate a lucrative wage in the future career prospects for their kids;other courses ,resultantly ,could be ignored or even cancelled .This is often true and understandable in some countries where the judgement of the kids is based on the standardized tests consisting of several major courses instead of the general assessment of the development of the teens .Such momentum and practice ,however ,may pose overwhelmed tension for kids as well as parents .

?The consequences of this orientation can be profoundly negative. The students who are exposed to pursuing limited knowledge and meet the exaggerated anticipation from their parents have higher propensity of depression and poor self image .Compared to those who could receive a more balanced education with an overall knowledge and information input , the former kind of education is more likely to drain the creativity of the juveniles and victimize them into test machines .That is why some people advocate to involve a more general disciplines into the domain of education instead of just so called practical courses .The essence of education is not only to promote the intellectual and moral development of the young ,but also facilitate them to understand what is going on in this world in various perspectives ,which is exactly the aim of? international news.

?In a world where complexities being increasingly interconnected ,we would rather encourage the young to grow into generative and mature minds rather than becoming professional machines which only specialize in single isolated areas.Under this basis ,I reclaim? that international news would benefit in this way .
